00 All right, with absolute reluctance, you guys ready for another [sighs] very stupid and embarrassing Anthony Lee car story? Another one. >> Why is it Why is it reluctance? >> Bono's not here. We're good. >> Because it's a Cuz Bono's not here. It's a It's a It's a good story at at my cost. I recently just took the most expensive golf swing of my life. >> You're bragging again. >> No, dude. >> I'm not bragging. Uh I was It was Mike's 40th birthday. It's a couple weeks ago. We go out to Ohigh. his his wife Addy shout out. Sweetest person. She organizes this like golf trip for just his boys. Like she's literally just organizing everything. Chauffeur us cooks some food and but it's just boy time. Just ultimate man gentleman golf weekend. Different waves of different people from his homie groups coming in for like different golf sessions. So like first like me and some of the Kinjas uh were golfing and then like um

52 our like college group was golfing and stuff like people would just show up different surprise waves. So sick thing. All right. Anyways, it's like day uh two uh of the golf extravaganza. I'm going out there. Um I'm I'm playing golf on this one course. I forgot of Ohhigh something soul something in. Oh, look it up. And um there's at the ninth hole, which is halfway through a game, right? It's always right by the clubhouse cuz it's like approach to the clubhouse and then you kind of like check in, grab a drink, go to the bathroom, whatever, and you go out for the back nine. Right. That's how every golf course usually is. By 9 and 10 is right around or 9 and 1 is is where it starts. All right. So 9inth hole. We're approaching and the clubhouse is in front of us and there's a parking lot on the left. Now here's the thing with anybody who parks in a golf area. There's signs and there's like there's an understanding the liability the risk

42 factor of of golf stuff, right? There's a liability thing like a golf ball's going to come and smash a car. >> Yeah. Like if you park in a driving range, there's going to be signs. If you park here, we're not liable. But don't they got those giant fence and nets and stuff? >> Exactly. But still like just no matter what. Now this particular golf course doesn't have this in this parking lot approaching this clubhouse for whatever reason. >> The giant nets and fences. >> The giant net on this one particular side. >> It's a very very like if I were to really break down the basics of it, I'm like this is this is absolutely I could I could win this. Anyways, we'll get there. >> It's not your fault already. And so I I terribly and and stupidly pull out a a a club that I really shouldn't have. There's we can talk about that later if we want to really get meta with golf. But I swing this thing. I pull it and you know ball just pulls over to the left and the four of us are there and we just hear this boom, right? So all of us

35 but it I swear to God it sounds like maybe the top of a car, you know, like best case scenario, top of the car, not the windshield, not the middle of the windshield. So you just see it like kind of curve. >> You don't even see it. You Yeah, you see it curve, but and then it goes into just like a a sea of like a line of of a couple cars and stuff like that. >> How many yards? >> It's probably good. Like 160 yard. >> My bad. >> That's nothing. That's nothing. >> That's beginner numbers. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's nothing. >> Or by 300 guy, but yeah, 100's fine. 100's cool for a for a child. >> Is it common for the ball to go that far to the left? >> Not left. You're so stupid. Um it's Yeah, if you're not amazing. I I think it's very common for your ball to go anywhere if you're not amazing and not straight. >> Why the ████ is it designed like that? >> Exactly. >> Is it for pros only? Is that why? >> Well, that I think that might be the assumption that if you're playing at certain courses that maybe >> Oh, then you're good enough to not slice the ████

25 >> or you can cover it financially. I don't know. You there's just an understanding, right? >> What a weird thing. >> Now, here's the thing. There there's like a culture to it, though. Like, everybody knows the unwritten rules. >> You know what I'm saying? Like the unwritten rules is in that moment and and and I challenge anybody out there to like really call me out on this, but the unwritten rule is if you're parked in a spot that golf balls can't go, >> it's out of my control. >> So I hit I hear I hit a car. I don't see which car, >> but technically it's very like a sucks. >> You move on with your day. There's what are you going to do? What you do you >> ████ kidding? There's no way that's the rule. No, that's the culture of it because like like >> But are you including that or is it only for the rich guys? >> No, I'm just saying if >> that's No, there's no way. >> If you hit a golf ball in a place where you're allowed to hit golf balls, you

15 don't even leave a note or nothing. >> Well, you don't know what car it is. There's a bunch of cars, right? You don't you don't suddenly go out there, you walk up and down every freaking car. That's not what they do. That's what I would do. >> No, that's the No, but that's what I'm saying. Because it happens so frequently. >> You're not a golfer, dude. You wouldn't understand. because it happens so frequently. >> Dude, what? >> Can I ask you a question? >> What? >> Let's say the golf ball went and didn't hear a >> That's ████ up. >> Would you just be like, >> why are you laughing? >> The culture of the [laughter] rules. >> Do you know how many dogs are over there? >> Is that really the culture or is it like an easy out to hide behind the culture? I believe Anthony >> cuz why doesn't your personal culture supersede the golf culture? >> You let me finish my ████ story. All right. All right. There's a whole part to this. Okay. Number one, yes, it's a

06 culture. If you don't see where the ball hits, you don't just ditch everything and then you just go walking up and down. >> You finish your nine holes. [laughter] >> You know what I'm saying? Like that's just part of it. And and and it's it's a tough thing because you're just like you feel bad. It's not like, "Oh, there's rules of this. I shouldn't care." You're just like, "Oh, ████ I hope I didn't I hope it wasn't too bad." But I don't know which car it is. And it's not like it's not in the culture. It's just like, "All right, let me walk up and down every row to find a car and then from there leave a note." >> That ████ sounds funny as ████ >> It's just not that's not how you do it, right? >> Is this one of those things where like let's say you see like a whole street of like starving homeless people and you're like five bucks won't help any of these guys. >> Are starving homeless people on the golf course part? But then how good how good of a golfer do you have to be before you're included in that culture? What if it's your first day? Are you part of that culture already? If it's your first day and you're not part of the culture and then you park by a driving range,

56 your car gets hit, you're part of the culture when you pay for it yourself. It's your fault. >> Okay, keep going. Okay. >> Okay. Yeah, keep going. Keep going. >> Do you understand what I'm saying? >> Wait, I don't I don't understand that. What do you mean? >> Like it's like that's the learning curve. Like now you learn this is the culture. >> Yeah. If you pull up to an area and there's like a sign that says like, "Hey, golf balls might come here regardless of a net." >> You know what I'm saying? Golf balls might hit your car. You're parking here at your own risk. >> Okay. So everybody who parked there knows not to like even if he saw you hit it, he wouldn't go, "Hey, you hit my car." Cuz in the culture, he'd go, "My bad." No, no, no, no. That's that's the difference. Usually nobody sees anything. It just happens, right? If you were to walk back to your car after a while and suddenly there's like a a golf ball dented or whatever, what are you going to do? >> You going to go complain to the house, the clubhouse? Somebody hit my my car. >> So it's just part of like the hazard of

48 the sport or the the thing. So if and when that does happen, you would go to the clubhouse and at best they might have an insurance policy, but even then you might still lose because they're going to be like, "There's that sign right there." >> Okay. So So then everybody who parks here just knows. >> That's what I'm saying. It's just part of the culture. Everybody understands right now. This is where the story gets ████ up. >> I thought that was ████ up. >> No. Glad we had to spend four minutes on explaining the culture. >> I just kidding. I just kidding. >> We have to explain the culture. Just kidding. I'm just kidding. >> Now I'm walking up towards the clubhouse. We had finished, right? I'm Me, the four of us are are walking up towards the clubhouse. We're going to go use the restroom, grab a drink, move on to the next hole, right? [snorts] We're walking up there and then this tall dude comes out and he's like, I guess he works at the pro shop or whatever. And then he's like, "Hey, which one of you guys uh hit the hit the car with your ball?" You know what I mean? So, at that point, now you're getting called out. >> Oh, >> it's a different version of the culture. >> And now the culture is right in my face,

38 bro. >> Yeah. You know what I'm saying? So, of course, in that moment, and then even even the other three guys I'm golfing with, the homies, they even said so afterwards. They're like, "Dude, I'm not going to say anything. If he doesn't say anything, I'm not going to say anything cuz it's like you just know, you know, cuz like cuz you don't know where it's going to go." >> What if everyone's like, "I don't speak English." >> That's a good move. That's a good move. >> I probably could have, but that's now your personal culture comes into play. >> That's Chinese culture. >> I'm not an ████ like you. >> That's hip-hop culture. >> Don't blame me. >> I didn't see nothing. [laughter] >> Don't know what you're talking about. So now we're getting called out first. So I go, "Oh yeah, that was me." Like, "Oh, >> whatever." Right? Then he goes like, "Okay, well, smash the windshield of a uh a Porsche." >> Oh, yeah. >> And then so and then this and this is where he gets this there's like a dramatic pause. This was ████ up. And then he goes, "So I mean you I don't know if you want

30 to go leave a note and like do the right thing or >> Oh, it's not even his car. >> Yeah. >> Why is he being a tattletail? That's what I'm But that's then this is the wackest part because like again in general you're already like, "Okay, ████ All right. Yeah, I'll go do the right thing." Like you ████ >> This was like a white ass ████ Huh? >> Well, I mean, white culture, golf culture, [laughter] >> but there's one thing. If you see it happen and you witness it, I don't know. Like, I think it's on the person to be like, I have to see this through. Cuz if this were to happen to me, so that guy didn't see it. What had happened was somebody else saw it. So that they went up to the clubhouse. That guy at the clubhouse walked out, looked for us. >> So that's what happened. >> Guy works for the clubhouse. >> So So this guy, this tall guy comes out. He says that he's like, "Yeah, do the right thing." And I'm like, "All right, f███." All right. >> But why is he talking about do the right

20 thing? If he's in the culture, he knows that's not the right thing. >> Well, I think that's because it's another one of those. Somebody else went up to him. So now he has to do the right thing and do something about it. Does he work for the golf course? >> So at first I didn't know just how tall guy said this. I was like, "All right, ████ it. I'll go to the clubhouse and I'll go get a pen and paper." I walk into the clubhouse, there's people waiting cuz the club clubhouse guy is not there. So, we're all waiting. Next thing you know, that same guy who talked to me, he comes back up and then I'm like, "Okay." And then he hands me a piece of paper and like the pencil. So, I'm like, >> "So, he works there." >> Yeah. So, I'm like, "Okay, you're the guy who works there. Whatever." >> Okay. >> So, I got there, I put a note, and just just for visual fun, I wasted too much time trying to explain the ████ culture to you guys, by the way. >> Now, we know we got to know. >> You set the stage. >> KEEP IT LIKABLE. OH ████ >> THAT'S A hell of a shot, dude. [snorts] >> Right. >> Damn. >> Oh my. >> I thought you left your UC Irvine. Uh,

10 >> that's probably a windshield that has electronics involved somehow, too. >> So, here's the thing. Here's the thing. Let's not get hurt of the story too fast, you smart car guy. [snorts] >> I hit this. I leave a note, right? And I'm like, damn. Like, obviously the next few hours of this this game, I'm a little bit in my head. I'm feeling a little bit worried. Everybody's trying to make me feel better about it. I've obviously had to replace windshields myself before. Safe light, you know what I mean? Sometimes >> it's a buzz kill. >> They come up to you. >> Safe light repair. >> Yeah. But Safe Light's pretty chill, right? They handle almost everybody. They come up to you. >> I don't know if they ever see anything like that. >> It could be like 50. But the thing is, that's the difference. You could smash in the window or you could have a little rock. If if they have to replace it, it's the same replace. >> It's the same replacement. Yeah, >> it's the same. Technically, it could be like 50. >> Oh, I thought about like that gel trim. It >> could be obliterated completely and it's the same price. Yeah. >> If they have to replace it, if it's not fixing a crack, if it's like they got to replace it, it's the same and you're replacing, right? So, I'm like 50 250

00 bucks, but I've done this a number of times. Like, I understand >> 250. >> Safe flight. You know, sometimes the insurance is very I don't know. I All I'm saying is I know it's a couple hundred bucks sometimes or less. >> I had to pay 400 last time I smashed a windshield. >> Couple hundred bucks. Couple hundred bucks. >> When I replaced mine on my Land Cruiser, it was like two grand >> a windshield to replace the whole thing. It was two grand. >> All right. So, what happens? What happens in your thing? Sorry, >> editor, take that out. It's killing my stories. This is my ████ story. All right. >> You're losing points. acted like that. By the way, >> I paid 50 bucks for my windshield. >> It's my story. It's my story. Okay. Well, you give me 2,000. Now, suddenly my story is not so dramatic. I'm like, jeez, I didn't pay 2,000. It just dwarfs it. [laughter] My ████ story. But 2,000. >> How much is this? This one's got to be like $5,000 or some ████ >> Oh, it's a Cayenne. It's a Porsche, right? >> It's a Porsche. >> He just said He just said the most

50 expensive thing and he's like, I had to pay 50,000. [laughter] >> I'm sorry. Skooki did it again. >> No, no, no. Sorry. Go ahead. Go ahead. Good. It'll still be a lot. >> Okay. Okay. Anyways, hey, give a big reaction when he sends a number, guys. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I do I need it. I need it. I need it. >> No, but like I want to know how this plays out. >> Okay. So, I call I I I I leave a message, you know? I leave my number. I say, "I'm sorry." But it's also not like, "Oh my god, I'm so like this is It just happens." >> Did you say you should have parked in the back end of the parking lot? >> I I didn't say that. I didn't say I just say, "So sorry." Uh and I leave my number. The guy gives me a call. I didn't I I didn't pick up cuz I was still doing something else at another time. And then I saw a text message from him that's like, "Hey, you know, thank you so much for like leaving your name and number." >> Already a cool guy. He thinks you're a cool guy. >> Yeah. You know, like, "Give me a call back." I give him a call back. We have a super This guy super chill guy. >> Nice. >> And the whole time he's super chill, but

40 it's a very unique situation per your understanding of these types of windshields. And he's like, "Hey, uh, we get off the phone. I'm talking about the safe life thing." We get off the phone, he text me back. He's like, "Yo, like uh, thanks for being super chill about it and like taking responsibility, but I just kind of want to set some expectations. Um, this particular car, uh, it's actually a certain type of OEM glass. It has to be certified through the dealer and then you got to get like that ADAS or whatever like, >> uh, electronic certain that also has to only come from the dealer because blah blah blah. So, >> so there's only one place you can't use Safe Light. >> Safelight will also do it through AAA, but it's still the OEM glass is still going to be the same price and then you still have to do the ADAS um, calibration. >> It's like a premium windshield. >> It's super Okay, so that's the thing. I didn't ████ know how premium glass was going to be for certain rich cars, >> right? And then he's like I'm like, "Okay, uh, we'll figure it out." And by

30 the way, I have to use AI because at this point I'm like, I I don't want to say anything through a text that incriminates me in a in a later version of something >> in case it goes to Yeah. litigation or whatever. >> Yeah. Cuz I don't know how far this can go because I thought maybe if this was like, hey, uh, insurance is going to cost me this much to just cover this. The guy's going to drive to me. It's not a big deal. and we understand the culture of golf and you're being the cool guy and calling me and you're going to pay for it anyway. It's like, let me just do this. It'll be >> Yeah. Don't add on to your own situation. Yeah. >> This guy ends up sending me the invoice and it's $5,000. >> Okay. >> You got to be like, "Hey, bro. I thought we knew the culture of golf." >> I knew it. >> It doesn't matter what Bard said. That's a lot of money. [laughter] >> And now I'm sweating balls cuz I'm like, "This is that's not a that's not a joke, dude. That's good. >> Hey, honestly, you got to give the ████ bill to the ████ uh the golf

20 course. >> But like at this point, now now you have to look in the nuances of stuff. Now you go back to the the way the legal system works. If you have to go, it's like, okay, did I not at that time reject the offer of that, point out the sign of liability, and then you know what I mean? Like, or did I already go right? Cuz if you agreed already, you're ████ >> Yeah, I already apologize, put my number, claimed responsibility, say I would pay it. >> You know what I mean? like now the details aren't in putting responsibility on the club. Now it's a matter of like the level of responsibility I'm choosing to take. So I'm like now I'm back and forth as reasonable guy but still I get his situation too. I'm just back and forth in this place where I'm like hey uh in reasonleness I I agreed to cover a safe light version of deductible. Like this is completely different thing and and now I'm trying to convince him to like be like cuz I'm also curious. I'm like >> let's make a number. Let's make a deal. Why would you give me an itemized

10 receipt when like you wouldn't even do this yourself? You would go through insurance. There would be a conventional insurance deductible. >> So, it seems like he's trying to milk it. >> Yeah. You're not at fault. So, like it's this doesn't point this doesn't this doesn't count towards your record in a bad way. It doesn't uh increase your insurance uh deductible or premium or anything. >> Yeah. >> Like I understand this works. Why would you give me an itemized singular receipt from the dealership? It tells me 5,000. I'm playing along to still like because I also don't want to like trigger this guy, >> get him upset. So, I'm in this weird psychological battle through text and legal uh you know, jargon. >> Yeah. >> I'm calling the dealership. I'm asking about the deductibles and stuff trying to figure out how to handle this stuff. Eventually, like he's radio sign for like 3 days or like 4 days or something like that. I think maybe I don't know, maybe I got let off the hook and he's just a regular rich guy who doesn't actually give two ████ you know. Uh but then he hits me back up, you know,

01 four or five days later. And he said, "Hey, sorry about that. Thanks for being patient." Got all this information, calculated the money. Yeah. As long as I pay for the difference in the OEM glass to AAA, and then as long as I pay for the deductible, which ended up being like 500 bucks. [snorts] So my ended up total being 1,164. >> What? >> Cool. >> But still, for replacing one glass off a golf shot was the most expensive thing I've done probably ages. >> But also, isn't it part of the culture? Did you bring that up? Like, yo, what you parked there for, man? >> The only way I did that cuz it's it's here's the problem with do the right thing. This is the thing that pisses me off the most. If you were to ask me to do the right thing in a similar situation the second time, I wouldn't. That's what that's what the system just taught me. >> Why? >> One time deal. >> Because it's like what's the ████ point of doing the right thing anymore? >> I don't mean that to be like, >> "No, don't get dark. Don't get dark." >> I don't want to be too dark about it, but like what's the ████ point of

51 doing the right thing? Because in that situation, >> it's like >> cuz there's only a few of us trying to do it, dude. That's why. >> You know what I mean? Yeah. The few people who try to do the right things. It's like when you get insurance and then you're the one who gets screwed for it. Meanwhile, the accident you gone to, the person that doesn't have insurance, >> the uninsured. Yeah. And your car is smashed. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. So, when you try to play by the rules, you get screwed over every single time. I'm like, >> I think it's cost of business, dude. That's what you have to chalk it up to. This is just one of those things where it's just out of your hands and just slaps you in the face and goes, >> "So, why did all these people try so hard to locate who did it if the culture dictates, hey, that's where you parked?" Like, who are those guys? >> That's the thing. I think I don't even blame those guys. I feel like imagine you're walking by in the parking lot and then a ball hits a Porsche like and you're like walking towards the class cuz you're about to like check in. >> Yeah. >> Do you not say something or do you go, "Hey, I saw a golf ball hit a Porsche out there." >> And that's what I mean, bro. Like that

42 alone will do it. >> And then and then like let's say the golf poworker, he hears that and he's like, >> "Nah, ████ >> All right. Well, okay. I'll I'll let the upcoming group know." >> But then like if it was you walking and you saw the thing in the culture, wouldn't you just go tough ████ man? >> I don't know. Oh, it's hard. I >> That's how I feel. I would if it was part of the culture, I feel like, oh, I shouldn't have parked there. And I would just continue on with my day. But that's a But that's Asian though. That's Asian ████ >> I might not have done it. I If I were to see it happen, I might not go to the club and be like, yo, I saw this happen. I might be like I might to my friends be like, "Yo, you know what I saw happen?" I don't think I would go report it either. Considering like golf is so like gentleman sport, but then it's also a I ain't seen nothing kind of ████ Like what? It's weird. >> I think if you're like country club >> then you're members. >> But that's more of just like a >> Yeah, cuz country club is like, dude,

33 you can't even be here if you weren't invited on. >> Country club is more like you know the guy who probably got his ████ hit. Yeah, >> we're all in the country clubs yet. I think that's completely different. Public golf course. >> This is not that. Okay, I understand. Okay, >> it's going to take five more of these for them to be like, "All right, we're going to have to put up a net over here." That's unfortunate, though. That's the thing. It's like, dude, if you guys just put up a ████ net, this none of this ████ would happen. But then like the whole thing with like if there's a parking space like there like that one and it's like if you park here no one is liable for damage on your car. >> Yeah. Or put that sign up. >> Is that like a thing where you can't seek damages from others if if it's like your own risk? I I would assume it could be one of those things. But again, if I foolishly gave the guy my number >> Oh, I think that's where it doesn't matter what the li I've literally just assumed liability. >> Yeah. Yeah. I still think you did the

24 right thing and the universe will reward you. >> So whereas like in another version of this, you could have denied liability and the guy could have sought damages from the course. >> Yes. >> Okay, I see what you're saying. Yeah, >> cuz that guy is like who who hit that ball? I could have just been like I don't know, maybe it was a group behind us. >> So you're basically bailing out this the arrangement the course has cuz I thought I was doing the right thing. >> And also I didn't think that the guy's windshield was going to be a $5,000 windshield. Whereas the true right thing is to deflect it to the party that can afford this more. [laughter] >> You know, some places I get you say that some places will a sign that says >> your s███'s going to get jacked. [laughter] >> You know what I mean? It's like >> don't leave your belongings in the cart. >> Yeah. So like and that's not even a golf course with flying balls. Like they should have a sign. If there's hazards,

14 put up a sign. >> Where I see what you're saying now. Now that you ████ told your story and and then Why'd you let us talk so much? [laughter] >> We would have been on your side. >> We could have been We could have got here so long ago. I was trying to [laughter] >> Yeah. Don't do it again, though. Don't do it again. One and done. That's it. >> It's just too bad. I ████ had to tell this story with two car guys here. [laughter] >> We're just trying to understand. >> I'm a car guy, too, dude. >> You know how much time you would have saved? You just didn't let us talk. Anthony, >> I was trying to understand the culture. >> Now I get it, though. It's not. It's that it's the whole thing of like this company will pay for it if no idiot goes I did it. [laughter] >> Yeah, >> I see. I'm sorry. I get it. >> Yeah, you could have just sued Starbucks. >> Yeah, exactly. >> Instead of the employee going, I made it too hot. >> It's like someone slipping at Burger King picture, bro.

04 >> Dude, it's literally someone slipping at Burger King and trying to find who spilled the drink. >> Yes. >> Just sue Burger King. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. But the difference is somebody else goes to somebody else and goes to somebody else like, "Hey, somebody spilled the drink." It's like, "Oh, did you spill the drink?" And the guy's like, "Yeah, I spilled the drink." [laughter] But you're like, "I didn't know that was going to be a $5,000 surgery." >> Okay, I'm on your side. I get it. I'm sorry that happened to you, sir. >> It's ████ up. [laughter] >> Sorry, man. >> You should have lectured him. Why'd you buy a Porsche, dude? Yeah.
